Belford Community First Responders

Belford Community First Responders are:

volunteer members of the Belford in Northumberland community - approximately the NE70 postal area.
trained in emergency life saving first aid
trained, controlled and deployed by the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS)
called to life threatening incidents where an emergency ambulance would be unable or unlikely to reach an incident within the eight minute target response time
dispatched at the same time as a NEAS ambulance or paramedic
able to leave their place or work or residence (when on duty), attend to the incident and immediately begin life saving treatment
generally only dispatched to "Category A" emergencies such as heart attacks, breathing difficulties, chest pains and unconsciousness - i.e. where every second counts in restoring the patient to health

Our role is not to replace the ambulance service, but to simply attempt to preserve life and promote recovery until the ambulance service arrive.
